Will my boyfriend love me less because of my hair?

My boyfriend of almost a year has been deployed (Afghanistan) for a while now and he's coming soon for 2 weeks. The problem is, he likes long hair and I don't have long hair because I like it on the shorter side. I told him I would grow it out and I'm trying to but my hair doesn't grow fast at all. I eat healthy and everything so I know it's just genetics. But anyways, he is under the impression that my hair is really long now when I keep telling him that my hair only grew a little. PLUS, it's not flattering at all cause I haven't cut it in a while so it's all uneven. He's all excited because he thinks I'm '"under reacting"...I'm afraid that he'll be less attracted to me when he sees that my hair is still short. I know it sounds really stupid and childish (I'm in my 20s), but when most of our conversations revolve around my hair and how he loves long hair it makes me wonder. When we started dating my hair was short so idk what's wong with him. He makes me feel bad about myself to the point where I literally measure my hair every month. It's ridiculous. Please give me some advice. I feel so ugly nowadays because of my hair.
