How much is a 1 Yuan 1914 dollar bill worth from Shanghai, China?
We were cleaning out my grandma's apartment, and came across a dollar bill that says "Bank of Communications", and on the bottom, it says "One Yuan of the National Coinage of the Republic of China" Then it says under that "Shanghai" with the date October 1st 1914. There are 1's in all four corners. At the very bottom in small print, it says "American Bank Note Company, New York". There's a picture of a boat in the middle with a giant 1 on both sides, and above the picture it says "Promises to Pay the Bearer On Demand At its Office Here". There's a signature on the right that says J.S. Wong, and on the left I can't read the signature, but it is underlined. The back side is written in all Chinese, with a picture of a train in the middle. I've been trying to find out its current value for an hour now, and no luck. I may have to get it appraised, but I was reading about the bank of communications online, and it said it was founded in 1908, so this dollar bill is close to the time the bank first opened. If anyone knows any info on it, please let me know!!
