Ipod warranty..........?

would apple let me trade in my ipod if there is something wong in the headphone hole thing? I have an ipod touch and i cant hear anything out of the left ear bud. even with brand new headphones. i even tested the headphones on my cousins ipod and they worked fine so i know its something to do with my ipod. i still have a year left on my warranty but will they let me trade it in for this reason?
